WELCOME TO SPEECH AND DEBATE

The Notre Dame Speech and Debate Team (formerly known as Forensics) has a long standing tradition of excellence in competitive public speaking and debate.  Students have the opportunity to develop their communication skills as well as representing our school at several tournaments throughout the school year. 
 

 

Awards and Recognition

October 28 Phillipsburg HS Fall Invitational 
 
Greg Bianchi won 6th place in Extemporaneous Speaking. Greg also competed in Impromptu Speaking.
Also representing Notre Dame were Chris Bianchi in Humorous Interpretation and Improvisational Acting, Harper Hogan in Declamation, and Eddie Nuber in Student Congress.

November 4 Allentown/ Scranton Joint Diocesan Tournament at Southern Lehigh Middle School 
 
Harper Hogan won 4th place in Declamation. Harper has qualified for the Diocesan National Qualifier to be held on March 3 at Northampton Community College. Also qualifying were Chris Bianchi in Dramatic Performance and Greg Bianchi in Extemporaneous Speaking.  Also representing Notre Dame was Rebecca Koury in Declamation.

November 11 Manville HS Mustang Classic 

Greg Bianchi won 6th place in Extemporaneous Speaking. Greg also competed in Impromptu Speaking.
Also representing Notre Dame was Eddie Nuber in Student Congress.

November National Speech and Debate Association Degrees Earned:

Degree of Merit: Harper Hogan

Degree of Superior Distinction: Greg Bianchi

December 16 Allentown Diocesan Forensics League Tournament at Phillipsburg HS 
 
Declamation: 4th place, Rebecca Koury,  5th place: Harper Hogan
Dramatic Performance: 4th place: Chris Bianchi
Extemporaneous Speaking: 2nd place: Greg Bianchi

All of the above have qualified for the Diocesan National Qualifier to be held on March 3 at Northampton Community College.

February 10 Allentown Diocesan Forensics League Tournament at North Schuylkill HS

Declamation: 2nd place, Rebecca Koury,  4th place: Harper Hogan

Rebecca Koury earned the Degree of Merit from National Speech and Debate Association.

February 24 PHSSL District 8 State Qualifier at GAR HS

Humorous Interpretation: 2nd place: Chris Bianchi (State Qualifier)

Extemporaneous Speaking: 3rd place: Greg Bianchi (State Alternate)

Also representing Notre Dame were Eddie Nuber and Nathalia Ulsh in Student Congress Senate.

In addition to Chris Bianchi, the following students will represent Notre Dame at the PHSSL State Tournament March 16-17 at Bloomsburg University:
