WELCOME TO THE SCIENCE DEPARTMENT
In the near future, society will benefit from basic research discoveries that will lead to new tools, materials, and medical treatments.
Learning about the world around us, by observing and experimenting, is the core of science and technology and is strongly reflected in Pennsylvania's Academic Standards for Science and Technology.
We, in the Notre Dame Science Department, strive to assure that our students are able to go into the world with the tools, knowledge and faith needed to assist family, friends, and the world as a whole.

Delaware Valley Science Fairs, Inc. (DVSF) was founded in 1949 and incorporated as a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization in 1993, making it one of the oldest Fairs in the country. It is now also one of the largest. The Fairs were designed as a vehicle for stimulating interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) among students in middle and high schools in the tri-state area. The philosophy behind the Fairs is that students learn science by doing science. DVSF provides an opportunity for students to excel and reach their full potential fostering intellectual curiosity and creative problem solving - essential skills for future innovation.
Lehigh Valley Science and Engineering Research Fair
The purpose of the Science and Engineering Fair is to increase awareness in the areas of mathematics, science, technology, and engineering, and motivate area students in grade 6-12 to pursue careers in these fields. Sponsored by Lehigh University and Insaco, Inc., the fair is held once a year in Rauch Fieldhouse at Lehigh University and has approximately 250 participants each year. Winners have the opportunity to participate in the Delaware Valley Fair and potentially, the International Science and Engineering Fair.
