Welcome to all students and their parents. The world is getting smaller by the day and knowing a foreign language prepares our students to deal with and overcome the challenges they may encounter along their careers.  Students in other countries learn to speak a second and perhaps a third early on. We will do our utmost to help our students to acquire the necessary skills in their language of choice and to enjoy the experience along the way.

Each student is expected to study a foreign language for two consecutive years. Once a student begins the study of a chosen language, they are expected to take the second year of that language unless some other decision is reached in consultation with the student’s current language teacher. A placement test will be given to new students who are coming into our school system and who request to advance in the language level. Other students, who apply for Level I, who do not meet the pre-requisites will be assigned to a reading comprehension class. This may be used as the first year of the two-year foreign language requirement.
